Industry and Government Engage in Strategic Dialogue to Align Renewable Energy Priorities in Indonesia
The Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) and the Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC) partnered with the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) today, 18 June 2026, hosted a high-level Strategic Dialogue Forum in Jakarta. The forum drove collaboration among corporate energy buyers, developers, and financiers.
Access to clean electricity has become a foundational pillar for industrial market resilience, export capability, and investment attractiveness. Indonesia’s industrial sector drives approximately 40–45% of national electricity consumption. As a result, corporate actors serve as essential partners in achieving national energy transition objectives and Net Zero targets. The dialogue focused on integrating these industrial demands into the National Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) and national New and Renewable Energy (NRE) programs.
The dialogue focuses on achieving strategic alignment by bridging the gap between industrial clean energy demand and national planning frameworks like the RUPTL and the country’s target for the 100 GW solar power program. It also aims to identify practical pathways, including regulatory, technical, and financial avenues, to accelerate renewable energy deployment and energy efficiency. Ultimately, these efforts serve to develop actionable, industry-driven policy options that support transparent, bankable corporate procurement mechanisms such as green tariffs, corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), direct access, and rooftop solar.
The event opened with remarks from Indah Budiani (Executive Director of IBCSD) and Minh Anh Nguyen (Mia) (Chief of Staff of ACEC), followed by a keynote speech from the Tony Susandy, S.T., M.B.A., Director of Renewable Energy (EBTKE-KESDM), on policy direction and grid readiness.
Indah Budiani, Executive Director of IBCSD, stated:

Minh Anh Nguyen (Mia), Chief of Staff of ACEC, added:

The first session featured a presentation on the development of renewable energy procurement policy alongside shared industrial good practices. The second session focused on the ecosystem transition, where Henry Eu and Ricardo Reina presented regional outlooks, followed by a comprehensive panel discussion. During the dialogue, panelists addressed clean energy procurement barriers impacting industrial competitiveness and outlined the market certainty and transparency requirements needed by corporate buyers. The discussion also detailed the global credibility standards necessary for trusted renewable energy claims, analyzed practical near-term policy reforms compatible with national grid readiness, and provided insights on regional procurement models to improve project bankability for developers.
The strategic insights gathered will be compiled into a set of actionable, industry-driven policy recommendations to support a resilient, sustainable, and competitive energy ecosystem in Indonesia.
