ACEC, Fashion Industry Charter, and hosted by HUST, Organized a Dialogue in Hanoi to Accelerate Viet Nam’s Industrial Decarbonization

Hanoi, Viet Nam (26 March 2026) – The Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC), in partnership with the Fashion Industry Charter (convened by UN Climate Change) and hosted by the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), organized an implementation dialogue aimed at bridging the gap between climate goals and practical industrial delivery.

The event, “Accelerating Decarbonization Pathways” focused on empowering manufacturers and energy users with the essential tools to implement large-scale renewable energy solutions.

Driving Momentum for Supply Chain Enablement

The discussions highlighted Viet Nam’s evolving renewable energy landscape. The dialogues focused on supply chain enablement to ensure that the roadmap provided by PDP VIII becomes a feasible path forward for businesses on the ground.

Navigating the DPPA Landscape

The core of the session centered on the practical implementation of Direct Power Purchase Agreements (DPPA). Discussions were structured around the key pillars necessary for a successful transition:

  • Contractual Foundations & Risk Management: Participants explored structure and key components of a typical corporate PPA (cPPA), focusing on balancing commercial risks and ensuring long-term bankability.
  • The Vietnam DPPA Framework: Insights were shared on how the DPPA mechanism specifically functions within the Vietnamese market and the diverse range of clean energy products currently available.
  • Technical Readiness: The session covered the essential "how-to" of implementation, from step-by-step registration and grid connection to the requirements for metering and testing.
  • Economic Viability: A deep dive into financial elements provided a clear cost comparison between DPPA fees and standard retail tariffs, demonstrating the strengthening business case for renewable procurement.

Advancing Electrification

The dialogue also addressed the electrification of industrial processes. This segment highlighted the importance of transitioning thermal energy demand toward electrification as a critical component of the broader industry’s decarbonization journey.

A Collaborative Path Forward

By fostering direct engagement between energy users and technical experts, the event moved beyond theory into practical implementation. ACEC remains dedicated to building the technical capacity of the regional supply chain, ensuring that industrial players in Viet Nam are equipped to meet global climate standards through investable, "on the ground" action.
